Delta Zeta Sorority
It was the founding of Delta Zeta Sorority, whose purpose is to create among a group of women a true and lasting friendship, to encourage one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote values-based living and embrace social responsibility.

Each of us wants to make friends, learn new things and do something that matters. It’s part of the human experience. You might say it’s in our DNA, but that doesn’t make it any easier to do. But in 1902, six young women formed an organization that would help them move these ideas forward.

Since joining Delta Zeta I have held three positions, Sisterhood Chair, Campus engagement, and Public Relations. I have gained leadership skills and have grown to understand myself more then I could have ever imagined myself too. I have also given hours apron hours of community service. Delta Zeta's philanthropy is speech and hearing. The sorority is partnered with Starkey Hearing Foundation, and organization that travels around the world and gives hearing aids and aftercare to people how have hearing issues. All of the money Delta Zeta raises goes directly to Starkey. Last year alone Delta Zeta Raised 1.2 million dollars. My chapter here at Old Dominion University also volunteers at Four Kids, and organization with a mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty for families and children, ForKids is more than a safety net. Our full spectrum service model simultaneously identifies the compound root causes of each family’s homelessness and improves mental health, education, employment and personal obstacles with supportive services culminating in self-reliant families with permanent housing.
